Mediation and arbitration are methods of alternative dispute resolution (ADR). Using these methods to settle disputes has become more popular in recent years because of the tremendous amount of time and money saved as well as the reduction the parties’ stress during a lawsuit.

Mediation is confidential, efficient and effective. It can also help preserve the relationship of the parties.

Our attorney-mediators have the qualifications and the experience necessary to conduct mediations/arbitrations with a high success rate. In addition to their law practice, our attorney-mediators are available to work with local schools; appear on local media; and offer seminars on mediation/arbitration.

Both the Lafayette and Monroe offices of Voorhies & Labbé have joined 400 of the nation’s 500 largest law firms in signing a policy statement regarding alternatives to litigation. The policy statement, created by the CPR Institute for Dispute Resolution (www.cpradr.org), states that appropriate lawyers in our firm are knowledgeable about ADR and, that where appropriate, the responsible attorney will discuss with the client the availability of ADR procedures….both of which are ways in which Voorhies & Labbé has practiced and will continue to practice.
